Happy retirement Lynn!

Good for you you did not wait until retirement to stop drinking You would have lost all those years of sobriety and maybe would have too much time on your hands.

I still work from home but feeling kind of semi retired since I still cannot see my clients. I reached my 2 months on the 26th and my flowerbeds look wonderful :-)

Stay safe too!

hors controle,

I am doing very well, thanks for asking.  I was working from home, but I became officially retired the beginning of June.  I had once thought that I would give up alcohol when I retired.  My thought was that it would be easier when I had more time to deal with it.  One of the best decisions I have ever made was not waiting and letting alcohol go.  As I enter this new chapter in my life I’m fortunate in the comfort I have without alcohol.

How are those flowerbeds?  If I remember correctly, you worked from home before COVID.  Have things changed for you?  Stay safe!

Thanks Lynn

It is beginning to show a lot, two more weeks and everything should be blooming.

How are you doing? Did you have to work from home?

hors controle,

Working in your flowerbeds is a great distraction from drinking.  Not only does it give you something to occupy those hard times, but your able to see the results of your hard work.  Wishing you continued strength!

Welcome M2010,

Not many people in the group recently... but you can still do it. It is my 52nd day today and even if I still have cravings sometime I realize all the benefits. I finally stopped, again, after realizing I did not need the COVID19 to confine me. Alcohol has been confining me since so many years.

I realized it the first day of nice weather. I worked in the garden in the morning. It was a beautiful day. I had a few drinks with lunch and then I did not go back out. This is when I realized I did not want to live like this for the rest of my life, hiding in the house with my bottle, going nowhere with my life. That night, I empty the rest of the bottle in the sink before going to bed, not even taking a glass with me as I usually did.

The first month I was always surprised when I did not see an empty glass beside my bed when I woke up in the morning but it felt good.

Good luck in your quest. I will come on the site more often in case you want to talk about something on your mind.

Faye,

Hello and welcome!  Congratulations on your decision to stop drinking.  Have you tried to stop drinking before?  If yesterday was your first day of not drinking, how did it go?

Are you trying something different this time?

Thats a great question. In my journey, i took that first step reaching out of help. The group therapy led me to a shrink who after hearing my history suggested AA. There was that desire within to change, i think that is the key. And the right message came at the right time.

Hello Everyone,

Just looking for support, took a leap of faith today and decided to do whatever it took to quit drinking. It's my first day. But I've tried a few times and wasn't successful.
